Draft Sligo County Development Plan 2024-2030

Public consultation from 13 October to 22 December 2023

Notice is hereby given in accordance with Section 12 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended) that Sligo County Council has prepared a Draft Sligo County Development Plan (CDP) for the period 2024–2030.  

The Draft Sligo County Development Plan (CDP) consists of four volumes:

Volume 1 – Core Strategy

Volume 2 – Urban Development

Volume 3 – General Policies

Volume 4 – Village Plans

There are 9 Appendices to the Draft Plan.

The Landscape Character Assessment Map (A1 format) is also part of the Draft Plan.

The Draft Plan is accompanied by the following documents:

- Housing Strategy

- Draft Sligo Local Transport Plan

- Wine Street Car Park Masterplan

- Environmental Report (Strategic Environmental Assessment)

- Natura Impact Report (Appropriate Assessment)

- Strategic Flood Risk Assessment

Availability

The Draft Plan and associated documents will be available to view and download from the County Council’s consultation portal https://consult.sligococo.ie/ starting on 13 October 2023.

Printed copies can be inspected at the following locations:

Planning Department, City Hall, Quay Street  - 10am to 4pm

Sligo County Library  -  during normal opening hours

Tobercurry Library, Teach Laighne  - during normal opening hours

Ballymote and Enniscrone Branch Libraries  -  during normal opening hours

Enniscrone, Tobercurry & Ballymote Area Offices -  during normal opening hours

Printed copies of the Draft Plan and associated documents may be ordered for purchase from Sligo County Council’s Planning Office, City Hall, Quay Street, Sligo (Tel. 071 911 4440).

Public information sessions

Sligo County Council intends to hold a number of public information sessions in November 2023, in relation to the Draft CDP 2024-2030. The Council will publish further notices indicating the locations and times for such public information sessions.

Submissions

Written submissions or observation regarding the Draft Development Plan and associated documents may be made to the Planning Authority from 13 October to 22 December 2023.

Submissions should be made through the Council’s consultation portal at consult.sligococo.ie – this is the preferred method!

Although NOT recommended, submissions headed “Draft CDP 2024-2030” may be e-mailed to cdp@sligococo.ie or posted to:

All submissions will be redacted, if necessary (to comply with GDPR), and made available for public viewing on the Council’s Consultation Portal.

Submissions will be accepted until 4 pm on 22 December 2023. Late submissions will not be taken into consideration.
