30 September 2024 – Making of Sligo CDP 2024-2030
The Sligo County Development Plan 2024-2030 was made (i.e. adopted) by the Elected Members of Sligo County Council on 30 September 2024, in accordance with the provisions of Section 12(10) of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended).
The Plan was made with 303 out of the 308 Proposed Amendments. A total of 40 amendments were agreed by the Members contrary to the recommendations of the Office of the Planning Regulator (OPR).

Draft Sligo County Development Plan 2024-2030
Consultation on
Proposed Amendments
7 June to 5 July 2024
Sligo County Council has prepared a Draft Development Plan for County Sligo (CDP) for the period 2024 to 2030, in accordance with the provisions of the Planning & Development Act 2000 (as amended). The Draft Plan and associated documents were on public display from 13 October to 22 December 2023. A total of 211 valid submissions and observations were received during the consultation period.
Proposed Amendments
Having considered the Draft Development Plan and the Second Chief Executive’s Report on submissions and observations relating to the Draft Plan and associated documents, it appeared to the elected members of Sligo County Council that the Draft Plan should be amended. The proposed amendments would, if made, be a material alteration of the Draft Plan.

Printed copies can be inspected at the following locations:
- Planning Department, City Hall, Quay Street - 10 am to 4 pm
- Sligo County Library during normal opening hours
- Tobercurry Library, Teach Laighne during normal opening hours
- Ballymote and Enniscrone Branch Libraries during normal opening hours
- Enniscrone, Tobercurry & Ballymote Area Offices during normal opening hour
Environmental assessments
Pursuant to Section 12 (7) (aa) of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended), the Planning Authority has determined that strategic environmental assessment and appropriate assessment are required in respect of the proposed material alterations of the Draft Development Plan. These assessments have been undertaken and their findings are contained in the respective Addenda to the existing environmental reports, which are published alongside the Proposed Amendments document.
Submissions
Written submissions or observations regarding the Proposed Amendments only may be made in writing from 7 June 2024 until 4 pm on 5 July 2024.
It is important to specify the code(s) – in “PA-XY” or “PAZ-QW” format or as the case may be – of the Proposed Amendment(s) to which a submission refers. This will facilitate the identification of the issue(s) and the preparation of an appropriate response in the final Chief Executive’s Report.

All submissions will be redacted, if necessary (to comply with GDPR), and made available for public viewing on the Council’s Consultation Portal.
Submissions will be accepted until 4 pm on Friday, 5 July 2024. Late submissions will not be taken into consideration.
