Public Realm Enhancement at Strandhill 

PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT ACT 2000 (as amended) – Part XI
PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS 2001 (as amended) - Part 8

Sligo County Council proposes to carry out public realm enhancement works at Strandhill village, County Sligo (Td Carrowbunnaun) including the following:

  • Public realm enhancement works on the L-3504-0  (to the west of the main Council Car Park) and on the Shore Front involving narrowing and reconfiguring of the carriageway and widening and repaving footpaths.
  • Re-allocation of car parking spaces from the Shore Front parking area to the main Council Car  Park to provide a total of 365 car parking spaces, including 27 accessible spaces. 42 of these spaces shall be on the Shore Front. 6 motor bike spaces will be provided in the main Council car park.
  • Two loading bays on Shore Front,
  • Traffic management measures on Shore Road,
  • New landscaping, street lighting, street furniture, road signage,
  • Relocation of the Canon on the Shore Front (a protected structure) 57m to the southwest
  • Associated site development works.

Plans and full particulars of the proposed development are available for inspection on this consultation portal (under Contents, top right of this screen), may be viewed during office hours at City Hall, Quay Street, Sligo and are available for purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy.

Sligo County Council has determined that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and that an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is not required. Any person may, within 4 weeks from the 27 February 2025, apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the proposed development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment.
 

Submissions

Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated, may be made here by clicking on “Make a submission” (top right of this screen)  not later than 4pm on Friday 11 April 2025.

Late submissions will not be taken into consideration.

All submissions (including the names of those making submissions) received in relation to this consultation will form part of the statutorily required report to be presented at a meeting of the elected members. Accordingly, they will also be included in the minutes of that meeting and may appear in the public domain.
