Sligo County Council proposes to carry out a decarbonisation project at Sligo County Hall and Sligo Fire Station,  St. Anne’s Place, Abbeyquarter North, County Sligo including the following:

  • a new single storey plant room (21.3m2) to the east of the Fire Station,

  • upgrading of existing windows,

  • pumping of external walls,

  • installation of PV panels,

  • the installation of the heat pumps.

  • all associated site works and services.

The overall site contains a Protected Structure RPS no. 49SE. The proposed works are not in direct contact with the protected structure.

Plans and full particulars of the proposed development are available for inspection on this consultation portal (under Materials, top right of this screen), may be viewed during office hours at County Hall, Riverside, Sligo and are available for purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy.

Sligo County Council has concluded, based on a preliminary examination, that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and that an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is not required. Any person may, within 4 weeks from the 23 October 2025, apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment (i.e. requires an EIA). Art.120 (1)(b)(i) of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended).

Submissions

Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated, may be made here by clicking on “Make a submission” (top right of this screen)  not later than 4pm on Friday 5 December 2025.

Late submissions will not be taken into consideration.

All submissions (including the names of those making submissions) received in relation to this consultation will form part of the statutorily required report to be presented at a meeting of the elected members. Accordingly, they will also be included in the minutes of that meeting and may appear in the public domain.
