Notice is hereby given that Sligo County Council proposes to construct coastal revetment, in the Townlands of Carrowbunnaun and Killasprugbrone, Strandhill, County Sligo.
The proposed scheme is located on the upper foreshore north of Strandhill Promenade. The works involved are as follows:
Placing c. 2,500 tonnes of 1-3tonne rock armour onto a c. 90m section of the upper foreshore, above the high-water mark as defined by the Chief Boundary Surveyor;
Associated hardstanding areas;
Site access via Strandhill promenade with associated visibility splay and fencing;
Temporary construction compound.

In accordance with Article 120(1)(b)(i) of the Planning & Development Regulations 2001- (as amended), Sligo County Council has concluded from a preliminary examination under Article 120(1)(b)(i), that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and that an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is not required. Any person may, within 4 weeks from the date of this notice, apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the proposed development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment.
Plans and full particulars of the proposed development are available for inspection, or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, online at consult.sligococo.ie, or may be viewed during office hours in the foyer of County Hall, Riverside, Sligo from Wednesday 1st July 2026 to Wednesday 29th July 2026 (both dates inclusive).
Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated, may be made online by registering on the consult.sligococo.ie portal, or in writing and submitted to the undersigned not later than 4pm on Wednesday 12th August 2026.
Late submissions will not be taken into consideration.
