Sligo County Council proposes to construct a new shared pedestrian and cyclist facility from Coolaney to Rockfield, in the Townlands of Carrownacleigha & Shancough, Sligo.
The proposed scheme is located on Local Road No. L-6804-0, starting at the entrance to Fort Haven Estate to Rockfield National School. The objective of the scheme is to create a pedestrian & cyclist link connecting Coolaney & Rockfield. The works involved are as follows:
Remove existing roadside boundary and create new boundaries to facilitate the construction of a 3m wide active travel facility.
New road markings and traffic signage.
Remove the existing utility poles and overhead wires.
Provide and construct underground utility network.
Upgrade & extend existing surface water drainage network.
Provide new public lighting along the length of the scheme.
Provision of pedestrian crossing facilities along the route.
Associated site development works & services.
